LEE COUNTY REOPENING
While Lee County begins a phased approach for reopening, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office will maintain a position of education over enforcement.

We recognize that these changing and challenging times are causing some confusion.
During our patrols of county parks and beaches, to include those controlled by the Town of Fort Myers Beach, our deputies will aim to educate citizens should any violations be observed. In the event that a citizen is found in violation, education will remain the goal, and voluntary compliance will be requested. Absent any violent, disruptive, or otherwise criminal behavior, arrest/Notice to Appear will continue to be measures of last resort. However, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office is a law enforcement agency, and physical arrests/Notice to Appear will remain options if voluntary compliance is refused, and the circumstances of the incident make an arrest or Notice to Appear necessary.

LCSO will maintain an increased presence in parks and beaches within Lee County, which will include additional patrols on ATV’s, boats, and foot patrols. Additionally, the LCSO Aviation Unit will be conducting helicopter flyovers to document the overall activity from the air. Deputies will also be utilizing drones to patrol and inspect remote or difficult to reach areas of county parks and beaches.

LCSO asks everyone to exercise patience, kindness, and respect towards other citizens as we begin our return to normalcy. We also request all citizens, while you begin to resume permitted activities, to continue adhering to the CDC guidelines regarding social distancing and gatherings.
