On November 15, 2018, members of the Lee County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Unit along with the Cape Coral Police Department detectives, with the assistance of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit executed a narcotics search warrant at 1037 SE 11th Street in Cape Coral.
This came after a four month long investigation into Willie Hayden (DOB 02/23/86), who sold undercover narcotics detectives heroin on several occasions. Hayden is currently on federal probation due to a lengthy history in dealing in narcotics. Hayden also has eleven prior arrests in Lee County for various narcotics and weapon offenses.
Detectives discovered a trafficking amount of heroin (10.4 grams) from the residence during their search. Willie Hayden was charged with two counts of sale and possession of heroin and also trafficking in heroin.
After further investigation, it was discovered that Hayden was in possession of a safe deposit key for a bank in Cape Coral. A second search warrant was authored for access to the deposit box. Once opened, $51,130.00 dollars of US Currency was found inside. The currency has been seized for forfeiture as illegal drug proceeds.
