Arrest made in Bonita Springs RaceTrac robbery
On Sunday, May 6, 2018, at approximately 8:15am, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a silent alarm activation at Racetrac, 10801 Furlong Road, Bonita Springs.
Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed a robbery had occurred at this location. The store clerk advised a white male wearing a hooded sweatshirt entered the store and demanded money. The suspect also threatened to shoot everyone in the store if the clerk did not comply. The clerk opened the register and gave the suspect the cash. An additional witness observed the white male fleeing the store in a white Cadillac and reported the tag number.
South District deputies swarmed the area of Elaine Drive and Terry Street in Bonita Springs. The vehicle was located with a white male driver, who then fled from the driver’s seat. The suspect then ran into a residence located at 27079 Elaine Drive. The suspect eventually exited the residence and was identified as Corey Williams, DOB 11/4/1991.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit assumed the investigation. A search warrant was executed at the residence, where detectives located clothing that Williams was wearing earlier in the day.
Corey Williams was subsequently charged with Robbery (no firearm) and booked in the Lee County Jail.
