Programs Coordinator - Jail Life Skills Instructor
Starting Salary: $34,000.00
Hours per Week: 40 (Full-time)

This position is two-fold: The Programs Coordinator will oversee all programs at the maximum security jail and will coordinate with Classifications Personnel for screening and enrollment in those programs. The second portion of this position requires the employee to instruct inmates on the Life Skills curriculum. The employee must be self motivated, able to multi-task, and facilitate groups of 10 men of diverse educational levels. The employee will conduct classes on drugs and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, anger management, parenting, victim awareness, HIV and AIDS, jobs and resumes. This employee will report to the Programs Manager and is responsible to adhere to rules and regulations that apply to a maximum security facility. The employee will track inmate attendance, and generate reports and other statistical data.
Must have experience with people diagnosed with co-morbid or co-occurring disorders, anti-social personalities, and mood disorders.
Must be familiar with mental health diagnoses, criminal thinking, addiction, and levels of manipulation.
Must be non-judgmental and be able to cope with individuals who have been arrested for serious crimes.
Must be able to handle diverse cultural and racial issues.
Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills (oral and written).
Must have the ability to be firm, fair, and consistent with inmates.
Must be able to function in a Para-military atmosphere and follow chain of command.
Bachelors or higher accepted in listed fields.
A Bachelors degree or higher in Social Work (B.S.W.), Mental Health (B.S.), Human Services (B.A.) is required. Experience working with incarcerated individuals, or experience in the Mental Health field with group counseling and substance abuse treatment is also preferred.
