Lee County deputies have arrested three men in connection with a murder last month in Lehigh Acres. Today, detectives with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit charged the men in what they say was a drug deal gone bad.
On March 20 at 7:45 p.m., deputies responded to a reported shooting at 3317 12th Street West, Lehigh Acres. Responding deputies found the victim, Martin Plummer, on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the facial area. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and were able to determine that the three men were at the victim's residence to purchase a large quantity of marijuana. One of the defendants, Nelson Lopez, organized the drug transaction. The investigation shows that during the transaction, Lopez and another defendant stole the drugs and Lopez grabbed the victim's handgun from the dining room table. During a brief struggle Lopez shot Plummer, killing him.
Arrested and charged are the following:
Nelson Lopez, DOB 10-12-91, a transient, charged with Second Degree Murder, Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling, Grand Theft of a Firearm and Conspiracy to Attempt to Possess Marijuana over Twenty Grams.
Jonathan Hernandez, DOB 11-1-88, of 4543 SW 21st Street, Lehigh Acres, charged with Third Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Attempt to Possess Marijuana over Twenty Grams.
Quayshon Madison, DOB 12-3-94, of 4406 Santa Barbara Blvd., Cape Coral, charged with Third Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Attempt to Possess Marijuana over Twenty Grams.

The victim has been positively identified as Martin Christopher Plummer, DOB 7-2-81, of 3317 12th Street West, Lehigh Acres.

On Thursday, March 20, 2014, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a shooting at 3317 12th Street West, Lehigh Acres. Upon arrival, deputies found one male had been shot. He was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Major Crimes Unit Detectives responded to investigate.
This is an isolated incident and the community is not in any danger.
