On Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at 7:37 p.m., a 9-1-1 operator with the Communications Center of the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call about a traffic crash. The incident occurred on Estero Parkway near the intersection of Cypress View Drive, Estero. Deputies responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed a female pedestrian was crossing Estero Parkway when struck by a 2010, white, Volvo XC 70 station wagon, traveling east. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Eastbound traffic was diverted. Due to the nature of the crash, a Traffic Homicide Detective with the Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit was assigned to investigate.
Preliminary investigation indicates 75 year old Teresa Aaron of 9711 Heatherstone Lake Drive, Estero was in the area of the roadway not designed for pedestrians. The driver of the Volvo, 70 year old Michel Lavallee of Sherbrooke, Canada, was unable to see the pedestrian before striking her. Mr. Lavallee was not injured.
The investigation continues.
