On Saturday, May 18, 2013, at approximately 11:51 a.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a robbery at the Chase Bank, located at 21331 South Tamiami Trail, Estero. While on the phone with dispatch, the complainant provided a description of the suspects and their vehicle. The suspects were described as a white male, wearing blue jean shorts and a beige t-shirt, and a white female wearing a blue sweatshirt and jeans, carrying a white plastic bank deposit bag.
The Lee County Aviation Unit was quickly sent into action and was able to locate the suspect vehicle, a green Ford Explorer, travelling north on I-75. Lee County Sheriff's Office Grand Theft Auto Detectives were able to discover the vehicle at the RaceTrac Gas Station, located at 9400 Daniels Parkway.
While the male suspect entered the gas station, detectives walked up to the vehicle. The female suspect tried to flee from the detectives. She was quickly taken into custody. Then, the male suspect tried to flee from the gas station, but was also successfully apprehended.
Christopher Donald Baker (DOB 10/18/72) and Kristin Williams (DOB 08/27/85) were arrested for Robbery without a weapon.
Christopher Baker is also wanted in Pennsylvania for robbery.
Sheriff Scott says, “Due to the rapid and diligent response of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies successfully converged to take two dangerous criminals off the street. We should be proud of these brave men and women that serve Lee County.”
